Raindrops on Roses & Whiskers on Kittens

Ike is gone tonight at a Boys to Men concert....yes, I said Boys to Men.....don't ask me why, or how, or why. So obviously I must be a little bit bored if I am spending this much time to download all of these silly images and get them just how I want them on this post.

Anyways-

I just want to give a shout-out to some of my favorite things at this very moment. Of course there are many more but these are some that made me happy today....

• COKE ZERO. My new favorite drink. I love you! I wish you came in caffeine-free, so I wouldn't feel so bad drinking you. I have also found my new favorite place to get a refill on a hot day...Corner 22 in Bountiful. They have a drive up window which is great when you have little kids.

• WATERMELON. I just bought one today at Costco and it is almost half gone. It has to be the perfect texture and sweetness though or it isn't any good.
  
  




• JASON'S DELI. I met Ike today for lunch at the Gateway and we ate at Jason's Deli. The food was scrumptious, and they also had free soft-serve ice cream cones for after the meal. Very tasty indeed.
  
  



• FENCES. I don't know what I ever did without my fence. I will be so sad when it is cold outside and I can't just send Luke outside to play. Thanks Mckays, Boyntons, and Jacksons for a beautiful fence.
  

LITTLE PEOPLE the MOVIE. Luke will watch this show over and over again, the only downfall is that I have the stupid theme song stuck in my head the rest of the day. If I want to get any work done I guess it is worth it :)

• CHI. This is my favorite flat iron. I can do my hair in 10 minutes "flat". I am forever grateful for my sis-in-law for introducing it to me. Does anyone else love this thing like I do?
  
  
  


• my MOMMY. Last but definitely not least...I just love my mom so much. She is the sweetest lady ever. I am so happy she will be retiring in a few weeks so we can spend more time together.

Of course you know I love my boys...but I am assuming you already know that as that is all I usually ever post about. And I still love my cell phone- but I hate all of the phone calls I have gotten today for the old owner of the phone number!!

Is this just a dream?

Okay- can I just say that today has been the best day ever? Let me explain....

I have been married to Ike for almost 7 years. He has ALWAYS had a cell phone. Always. I, on the other hand, have NEVER had one. I would always beg Ike for one- but he would just say that we are too poor, which sadly we are.

Ike's work has always paid for his, so it was understandable that we both couldn't have one. It is just how it has always been- and I thought it would always be that way. I had accepted that I guess. But I still wanted one desperately.

I hated not being able to call someone if I was running late, or lost (which both happens quite a bit, unfortunately as many of you probably already know). And what if I get a flat tire or get stranded somewhere with my 2 little boys? I was so tired of having to ask friends or strangers if I could use their cell phone.

Then- Ike got this new obsession. The glorious IPhone. It was irresistible to him- like blood for a Vampire (sorry to all of those anti-twilighters). He had to have it. I gave him ONE condition...that I get a phone too. No exceptions, I was putting my foot down. Deep down I didn't really think he would stick to it- but I had to at least try. Maybe I would be daring enough to just go and sign up for one on my own- now that wouldn't be like his sweet innocent Jana...

He came home today with an Iphone. I got mad at him and then he pulled out a cute little red phone from a bag he was hiding. Still in shock- I didn't think it could be real. What a rude joke for him to play on me. I gave it a try, and to my amazement, it actually worked! It was a cell phone, just for me. An early birthday present. Happy Birthday to me!

Isn't this just the best news you have ever heard?! But beware- Ike will pee his pants if I text or talk too much...but feel free to call me after nine and we can talk the night away!

This may seem silly- but I can't stop smiling right now. Yay me!

bear lake family fun

We just got back from our annual Layton family trip. We went camping to Bear Lake and had a great time! It is crazy how many people are now in the family- it has sure grown from my Mom and Dad, me and 3 older brothers. Now we are all married and there are 10 grandkids and one on the way. There is never a dull moment, that is for sure. We all love our time with each other and letting the cousins play all day long till the sun goes down.

When I was little, every single year we would head to Flaming Gorge. My dad and mom loved taking us camping. Since I was the youngest and only girl, I was able to always bring a friend along. We would waterski, play games, sing songs around the campfire, jump off cliffs, swim across the lake, and swing golf ball off of the dock. There are so many special memories and we had so much fun. Sometimes I miss these old days and wish I was little again. But it is fun to create new memories with my own little family. I have much more admiration for my parents as it is SOO much work to take kids camping. They always made it so much fun and I will never forget the old days at the Gorge.

Here is our little family on the beach at Bear Lake. Luke was pretty scared when I told him we were going to Bear Lake- all he could think about was the word BEARS! Once we got there, he had the time of his life.

We had a great trip- but of course it is nice to be back home with running water and a toilet down the hallway. I am hoping next year Luke will be potty trained- but it was sure nice to have him in diapers since the bathroom was a good walk away!!

I am in love.....

Ike warned me not to post about this because he thinks that everyone does it and this certain website is always making fun of us women...

Anyways...

I did it. I decided to see what the rest of the ladies were talking about....who was this vampire that everyone is so crazy about? Well- now I know and I completely understand! I just finished the first book- and am so excited to keep on reading. This is a big deal- as most of you know how often I acutally find myself wanting to read, which is usually never!

Anyways- me and my mom have a girls night planned for Decemeber when the movie comes out. I can't wait!

So this is Luke's cheese smile- eyes half closed. I always tell him to OPEN his eyes and say cheese at the same time.....well this is what he came up with- too funny!

Island Park Getaway

We had such a great time at Ike's Grandma's cabin last week. We fit 17 of us and 2 dogs in a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin. Some pitched a tent or slept in a shed, but no one complained! We had fun four wheelin', going on walks, playing games, and of course eating yummy food! I think I gained 5 lbs by the time I got home. I was so proud of Esther and Josh for sticking with weight watchers the entire time....that was my plan in the beginning! Once I got there I had such a hard time not snacking on treats or having seconds of the yummy meals everyone made. Still working on losing those stupid 5 lbs.- when will I ever learn?!

For some reason, Max decided to forget how to sleep at night. He would wake up at least 3 times each night and start crying HARD! I of course couldn't let him "cry it out" with everyone nearby, so I had a bottle waiting and plugged it in his mouth right away not to disturb anyone- 3 bottles in the middle of the night makes for a full diaper in the morning, and for a hard habit to break right when we got home!

We had tons of fun with the family and can't wait until we get to go again next month! We are so lucky to have such a fun place to go run off to! Here are some of the pictures for your viewing pleasure...
