If you were wondering if I made it or not. I DID!I completed my first Half-Marathon on Saturday, April 18th.
My official time was 2 hours & 17 minutes.
My goal was 2 hours, but that goal was shot at about mile 3 when my ankle started to really hurt. While I was training about 2 weeks ago trying to run 12 miles, my ankle, out of nowhere, just started hurting at about mile 8. I called Ike from my trusty cell phone, and he came to the rescue as I couldn't even walk on it. I gave it a break for a few days, and was able to run just fine on it for the shorter runs leading up to the big race.
Anyone who talked to me about this race knows how nervous I was. I had no idea what to expect with my ankle. I knew I could totally do this, so it is frustrating to train so hard and have something like this get in your way. I was hoping I could get to maybe about 8 miles without any pain......so imagine my HUGE disappointment when mile 3 came along and I was already in tons of pain! I was so MAD and couldn't help but shed a few tears!
I was able to work through the pain, with some major help from above! I tried to land on my foot differently and change my entire form, and this seemed to lessen the pain and get me through a few miles, and then I would have to do this again once the pain became stronger again. My entire body was so tired from doing this, and I can totally feel it now. My left knee, and my entire right leg are so sore from trying to compensate for my ankle. Also- no one warned me of the after pain and discomfort my digestive system would go through.....but I won't go into detail about that!

Today I can say that is was totally WORTH IT! I am so glad I did this, and still can't believe I was able to finish this race....even though it was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
There were so many people there supporting their families and friends.....but when you see your very own friends or family while you are running it makes you feel light and fluffy all over. It was like I had just begun the race and had no pain and tons of energy.
A few of my cute friends found me while I was running past Liberty Park at mile 8 or 9, and cheered me on and had cute signs. I don't think I have ever felt so special in my life! It gave me the energy I needed to finish those last few miles.
What an experience!

Will I ever do this again?
I hope I can......someday.....
Let's get rid of this limp first!!!
